Service Learning Training and Service Session
Date: 21/03/2025
This year on 21st March 2025, with the support of the Agency for Volunteer Service, the Moral and Civic Education Club held a service event serving those with hearing impairment. The service this time aims to enhance students’ communication and cooperation skills in a learning community, and foster their empathy.
In a partnership with the Agency for Volunteer Service, the Club collaborated with The Hong Kong Society for the Deaf and served at their Tseung Kwan O Multi-Services Centre.
20 students first attended a training session at our school on 7th May provided by staff from the centre, and students had the opportunity to learn more about hearing impairment and basic sign language.
On 21st March, after 2 weeks of preparation, all 20 students went to the Tseung Kwan O Multi-Services Centre to play board games and led a floral arrangement workshop with 10 who had hearing impairment. The smiles on their faces with their finished flower pots in hand confirmed the value of serving everyone around us.
