Exploring Urban Development in Kowloon City Through an Archaeological Lens

Date: 28/09/2024

A cross-departmental activity focusing on the urban development of Kowloon City was collaboratively organised by the Chinese History, History, and Geography Departments under the PSHE Key Learning Area. The day commenced with an on-site field trip to Kowloon Walled City Park, offering students an opportunity to delve into the site’s urban development and historical significance while observing its relics.

Following the field trip, students engaged in an archaeological trial guided by a certified archaeologist. They learned how to search for relics in the soil and systematically record their findings. Additionally, students used various tools to delicately clean the relics, ensuring the preservation of their historical integrity. This hands-on experience enabled them to reconstruct the narratives of the location.

This comprehensive activity provided students with invaluable interdisciplinary learning opportunities, deepening their understanding of the intricate connections between subjects within the humanities realm.
