Visiting the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre

Date: 03/07/2025

On 3rd July 2025, our S5 Economics students had a valuable opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) Information Centre.

During the guided tour, students learned about the role of the HKMA and the development of money and banking in Hong Kong. They explored key regulatory measures implemented by the HKMA to ensure the sound and effective operation of banks and to safeguard the banking system against potential shocks.

The tour also covered the design, security features, and production process of Hong Kong’s currency notes and coins, along with other interesting facts about local currency.

Overall, this visit was a meaningful and enriching experience. It deepened students’ understanding of the HKMA’s work and highlighted the importance of stable monetary and banking systems in maintaining economic security. We hope students will be able to connect what they have learned in class with real-world applications, thereby enhancing their interest in and understanding of Economics.
