Visiting the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre

Date: 12/07/2024

On 12th July 2024, our S5 Economics students had a unique opportunity to visit the Hong Kong Monetary Authority Information Centre.

During the guided tour, our students learned about the work of the HKMA and the development of money and banking in Hong Kong, including important regulatory measures adopted by the HKMA to ensure the sound and effective operation of banks and to prevent shocks to the banking system. The design, security features, production process, and other interesting facts about Hong Kong currency notes and coins were also introduced.

Overall, this experience was truly valuable for our students as they gained a better understanding of the work of the HKMA, as well as the significance of stable monetary and banking systems in ensuring economic security. We hope that students can relate what they have learned in textbooks to real-life situations, thereby enhancing their interest and learning outcomes in Economics.
