Overcoming the Heights: Our Team Reaches the Summit of Mount Kinabalu
Date: 07/07/2026
Between 3 July 2026 and 7 July 2026, a dedicated party of 21—comprising 15 adventurous students, three teachers, and three expert coaches—successfully scaled the formidable heights of Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia. The expedition was a rigorous test of endurance, starting from the steep forest steps of Timpohon Gate and leading to the sheer, windswept granite slopes near the summit.
In the freezing pre-dawn hours, the team navigated technical sections using fixed ropes, relying on one another for motivation and safety. This five-day journey reached its spectacular climax at Low’s Peak, where the team witnessed the sunrise with the school flag held high, a moment made possible by the unwavering support of our staff and the fortuitous clear weather.
This challenging ascent provided an invaluable opportunity for our students to cultivate a spirit of perseverance that transcends the classroom environment. By enduring physical fatigue and the harsh mountain climate, participants learned to maintain their focus and resolve despite significant obstacles. These experiences allowed the students to learn firsthand how steady determination leads to extraordinary achievement, reinforcing the idea that character is built through consistent effort and mental toughness. As they supported one another through every difficult segment of the climb, they gained a deeper understanding of collective strength and personal resilience, ensuring that the lessons learned on the peaks of Malaysia will continue to inspire their future pursuits.
