A remarkable cross-departmental activity was organised collaboratively by the Extra-Curricular Activity Committee, Biology Department, and Geography Department under the Jockey Club “Water Sports 4 All” Programme .
The day commenced with an engaging salt-making experience in Yim Tin Tsai. Students were given the opportunity to delve into the traditional salt-making process while simultaneously learning about the historical and cultural significance intertwined with this practice. This hands-on activity fostered a deeper understanding of the local heritage and its profound connection to the environment.
In the afternoon, students embarked on an exhilarating canoeing adventure. This water-based activity not only allowed them to immerse themselves in the beauty of our coastal surroundings, but also actively engage in a recreational and physically invigorating pursuit. With a strong emphasis on water sports, the importance of environmental conservation through coastal cleaning was underscored.
Through this comprehensive experience, students obtained invaluable learning opportunities in multiple disciplines. They acquired subject-specific knowledge in Biology and Geography, which further deepened their comprehension of the intricate interactions between humans and the environment. Moreover, this activity instilled values of environmental stewardship, aesthetic appreciation, and physical education, nurturing within them a profound sense of responsibility towards the preservation of our natural resources as conscientious citizens.
