World Scholar's Cup (Tournament of Champions, Yale University, November 2023)

In the final round of the World Scholar’s Cup, ten Hoi Ping students travelled to Yale University in the United States to compete in the Tournament of Champions in three teams between 1 Nov and 9 Nov 2023. There, they engaged in intellectual and collaborative discussions and debates with top students from around the world. This round’s competition was the fiercest and most diverse yet, but our students tackled the challenge with utmost diligence and determination, facing off against the best students from the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Despite intense competition, our students shone through and secured Gold Awards for nearly all competition events. In team writing, all three teams ranked in the top 15th percentile, with one team placing in the top 3rd percentile. In team debate, all teams won either gold or silver awards, with two teams placing in the top 20th percentile and four students placing in the top 10th percentile.
Though the vast majority of competitors have an international school background, our students proved that individual ability and hard work can shine through in spite of curriculum and language differences. More than 40 medals were awarded to our students in recognition of their talents and efforts, which serves as a testament to their extraordinary abilities on the global stage. Additionally, our students gained valuable cultural exchange opportunities and expanded their perspectives on a global scale, aptly preparing them for a brighter future ahead.
